Leicester star Mahrez reveals shock update over transfer request

Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has revealed that he withdrew his transfer request after the January window.

Reports in January suggested that the Algeria international was a £60 million target for Premier League champions Manchester City.

Despite Mahrez’ transfer request, Leicester held firm and refused to be rushed into selling their key winger.

Mahrez revealed to Sky Sports that he withdrew his transfer request after the window closed, however.

“I am still contracted to Leicester and at the moment I am here so we will see,” he said.

“At that time I handed in a transfer request because I had offers from Manchester City, so obviously I wanted to go, but now I am still in Leicester.

“With me especially you never know what is happening. Every time I have to go but I am still here, so I don’t really want to talk about I’m going, I’m staying, you know.

“I just want to finish the next three games and we will see what will happen to me.

“It [the transfer request] is gone. It was in January. Now it is another transfer window.

“I am still here and I don’t want to put a lot of things in my head. I am very cool and relaxed about it.”
