Iniesta has given Chelsea fans something to be happy about

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is a major doubt for the Catalans’ Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Chelsea at the Camp Nou on 14 March.

The 33-year-old suffered the injury during the first half of Barca’s 1-0 La Liga win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday, a victory that extends the Catalans’ lead over second-placed Atletico to eight points with 11 games to play.

“Iniesta is a unique player, a little like Messi, so it’s difficult to find a player who can replace him,” Barca head coach Ernesto Valverde told the club’s official website.

“He’s unique in the world with the characteristics he has.

We will have to see the extent of the injury. He carried on playing so we thought it wasn’t too bad, but we’re not sure.

“He was playing incredibly.”

Chelsea and Barcelona played out a 1-1 draw in the Round of 16 first leg at Stamford Bridge on 20 February.
