It will shock you what the Egyptian FA blame their World Cup ousting on.

.Egyptian Football Association president Hani Abo Rida (Al-Ahram)

Egyptian Football Association President Hani Abo Rida has blamed Egypt’s early World Cup exit on their lack of experience, adding that the VAR technology did not come in handy against Russia.

“I know people are not happy with our results at the World Cup, especially that it is our first tournament in 28 years,” Abo Rida told reporters on Thursday. “We lacked experience but we are happy that we are back among the World’s best once again.”

Egypt have conceded two straight defeats by Uruguay and Russia, losing 1-0 and 3-1 respectively in Group A to see their qualification hopes dashed.

“We are going to file a complaint about refereeing, especially that the VAR technology is used in this World Cup but it didn’t help up get justice,” he added.

The Pharaohs said their defender Ahmed Fathi was fouled while attempting to clear the danger, causing the ball to deflect off him and into his own net to give the hosts the lead. The North African team also claim harsh challenges by Russian defenders in the area should have earned them more than one penalty kick.

Many reports have claimed that there has been a rift in Egypt’s dressing room following their loss to Russia, yet star striker Mohamed Salah played down these allegations.

There has also been a wave of criticism over the presence of Egyptian fans and celebrities at the same hotel where Egypt’s contingent resides, out of belief that it has distracted Hector Cuper’s side.

“I am totally astonished by these allegations. All the boys are very respectful and disciplined and they are totally unhappy with these reports,” Abo Rida said.

He added that the fate of Egypt coach Cuper will be decided after the Saudi Arabia match.

“We had an initial agreement to renew his contract that expires by the end of the World Cup games. After the Saudi Arabia game, we will sit down and assess the situation before making any decisions.”

Egypt will take on Saudi Arabia on Monday in their last game in Russia as both Arab sides have already been eliminated
