Belgian coach, Tom Saintfet has offered Nigerians a glimmer of hope after claiming that he can take Nigeria to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, despite the obvious difficulties.
The NFF’s bid to prepare the team for the qualifiers set to kick off in October was dealt a major blow after RECOMMENDED – note the emphasis – technical adviser, Paul Le Guen turned down the federation over contractual issues.
Saintfet, however, appears to be willing to take the job and he is even confident of securing the all important qualification to Russia for Nigeria.
“I am convinced in my qualities and in myself as a coach. I can take Nigeria to Russia. I am convinced about the current crop of players. I first admired Nigeria in 1994 when Westerhof and since then I have followed the game in Nigeria. Remember I was appointed technical director of the (Nigeria) football federation in 2012 but the minister of sports turned it back after a few weeks,” Saintfiet told supersport.com
